Discernment Meal

Explanation: There are several ways to discern who you want at this dinner.   You could use those that impressed you when you interviewed them (Interviewing Students.)  You could use those that were chosen in the "Called by Name."  You could ask the faculty, CCD teachers and yourself who should be invited.  You may also want to have this meal simply for Catholic Single Men who are in their late 20's and older.  When you decide on who to invite, invite them.  Who cares if they say, "no" this time. At least now they have something to pray about.  However, before you invite anyone to the dinner, you should spend some quality time praying for these men.  Then, after prayer, ask them.  Have some other parishioners attend the dinner as well.  When this was done, we tried to get about 5 from the same age group to attend.  We also did this with single genders; we did not mix the genders. Then, make sure the priest or a couple of priests are in attendance for the male dinner.

Steps:

1. Secure a location and date that works for the priest and other adults you will have host.
2. Discern who should be invited.
3. Decide on age appropriate menu and decide who will fix the food on menu.
4. Decide what else will happen that night besides a talk on vocations and food; they would like to do something.
5. If those you are inviting are under 18, address the invitation to their parents.
6. Let the parents know they can come too (and let them)
